Why Franchises Attract Entrepreneurs

Those just striking out into the world of franchise are often called entrepreneurs. They are, after all, striking out on their own, looking to own a piece of a global franchise and run their own business.

Yet entrepreneurs who start from scratch have a host of challenges in front of them. They must raise money, refine their idea, sell their idea, line up customers, purchase equipment and a storefront and get the entire thing rolling and successful before it can collapse in on itself. That’s several degrees beyond terrifying, if we’re being frank.

What a franchise offers, then, is the high-wire act with the advantage of a net. It provides a support system, an established brand name and a certain level of expertise that simply isn’t there for the entrepreneur with a bright new idea who is beginning anew. For those who want ownership of a business and pride but don’t need to own the idea, being a franchisee is simply the best option out there.

For all the same reasons that someone chooses to be an entrepreneur, they choose to become a franchisee. The ability to run your own shop, the independence to make the daily decisions and choose your location is something most of us have admired at some point or another, and for some people, entrepreneurship is encoded in their very blood. Thus they turn to franchises.

Again, it’s the opportunity to go into business for yourself with the added bonus of having a bit of backup. Who doesn’t love security and freedom all bundled up in one package?

What drew you to the world of franchise?
